What To Do Before You Start Podcasting

Tip! Similar to the concept of opt-in email, podcasting takes full advantage of technology in reaching a pre-qualified, self-selected audience that craves the information and expertise a podcaster provides. Podcasting gives the strategy of establishing yourself as an expert a whole new playground.

Podcasting fresh content online is big business and an excellent business to start. There are some items to consider before you start your podcasting business.

The first is to answer is who will be the star or host of the podcast. Should you be the star because you own the podcast? Probably not. If you look at news anchors, reporters and T.V. hosts you will notice that they are all attractive with great voice control and a wonderful voice. You need to be honest with yourself. If you are not T.V. beautiful or have a voice that frightens small children you simply don’t make the cut. You may be better off by hiring outside help with broadcasting skills such as a smooth, rich voice, superior reading skills and good looks. You may have a friend who would like the exposure and will do it for free.

Tip! Download a news aggregator or RSS reader that supports podcasting or sync a wireless device like an iPod with your computer.

Next, where should the podcast take place? What is the setting? If you are sitting in a dingy room with poor lighting, a stack of landscaping tools in the shot and a family member calling you to dinner in the background the product quality will suffer and look amateurish. If you improve the product quality of the podcast, you are much more likely to be syndicated by a national or worldwide company and/or receive exposure on the networks.

Tip! There are many advantages to podcasting. In comparison to other types of advertising, it is relatively inexpensive.

Content is king. Your subject matter should be in demand. Broadcasting a podcast about your summer vacation plans is really only interesting to you. Even your family and friends don’t want to see it unless they are heavily featured. Research a subject that can captivate an audience and has longevity. If you broadcast to a niche market like you should, be sure there will be plenty of material to extract from the subject matter.

Research the market you are trying to reach. Many of the podcasters I know admit they did little to no research on the market. Some became successful anyway while most struggle puting together a quality product with no market. Why work so hard to reach only a few people unless you are simply killing time? Personally, I would rather kill time at the beach. When I work I am looking to produce an income.

Finally, have you considered the wardrobe of the star. Some colors work much better than others, you will need a good supply of quality color clothing. Forget about the rags in the closet. Spend a few bucks for appropriate clothing and test the colors before you publish your podcast. Be sure everything looks top notch and not like the star is dressed for a Sunday afternoon watching football on the couch.

Wizetrade: Make Music In The Stock Market

More than me, my dad was interested in the new Wizetrade blog and Wizetrade software. Wizetrade is a powerful stock trading software program and stock research tool used to conduct stock market analysis and quickly chart potential entry and exit signals on any stock symbol. His hobby is stocks and stock trading, and like a gambler who’s winning, he’s always screaming about some stock or another that’s made him a mint. So, I passed along this site to him and he was ecstatic. My good deed for the day.

Wizetrade provides an interesting assortment for the stock market enthusiast as well as newbies just looking to get their feet wet. The blog posts are informative like, “How many of you have actually traded ‘live’ WITHOUT a Trading Plan in place?”. Well, since I don’t plan for much of anything, this was a no-brainer in terms of what to read first. The article goes into how to get a Trading Plan, the criteria necessary, questions to answer before starting to trade and market conditions.

There’s also Hot Picks, a really good article on the 10 Common Mistakes that New Traders make, a video on the Wizetrade Ferrari and more. Even if you’re not into trading, this site is an interesting read.

Start Cruising On This Classic Bike

The universe works in mysterious and delightful ways. I was just considering buying a bicycle because the car died, the new car is slow in arriving, and I’m currently renting PhillyCarShare cars. By the way, if you live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and you want a car for short hops to places, check out PhillyCarShare. It’s quite a deal, and you can rent cars for an hour to 24 hours. The hybrid I’m driving has room for two bikes in the back which put me in mind of investing in one.

I was considering getting a bike for rides back from the car share pods (pods are where you park the cars). I didn’t really want a X-speed bike where you ahve to get one of those spandex getups, cool sunglasses and stylish (aka expensive) bike helmets. I was standing in Kmart (aka the Less Expensive) store in te bike section, trying to make up my mind which cruiser I’d invest in. I’ve never been really good at riding a bike, and have always had the most luck on those big wheel jobs that look like their from decades ago. For some reason, all taht extra rubber, wide seat and one speed to figure out, has always equated to my staying upright and alive during the ride.

With all of that said, here comes, XYZ Cruiser Bikes, with those nifty, simple, two-wheelers that are easy to peddle, even easier to figure out and a breeze to balance on, all at a reasonable price. Their advertising is cool, their site has lots of pictures and their website navigation is like their bike — easy. It states in the beginning, you don’t have to live at the beach to ride beach cruiser bikes. And, at 88 bucks for the bike, you won’t go bankrupt trying to get one either.

This bicycle is brand new and sold in the box. Bicycle comes about 80% assembled. It takes about 15 minutes to assemble your brand new bicycle. They do recommend that you spring to have a professional assemble it for you which I think is sensible. They ship by FedEx, so you can get it quick, and away you’ll go.

So, there you have it. I think I’m going to go for the teal/blue model which will be a nice contrast to my new iPod. Music while you cruise. What could be better!
